Hurricane Sandy caused the east coast major devastation, and many people are worried that most of the flooded vehicles may make their way to the mid west. Reports indicated that approximately 250,000 vehicles were flooded in Hurricane Sandy. Vehicles with salt water or hurricane flood damage often have severe corrosion and electrical problems which cannot be properly repaired.
“There are different degrees of water damage. If you’re talking about the east coast, that’s salt water and most of that stuff out there is scrap or parts. Those cars are not going to be on the car lots, said Fierge. “There may be a few that somebody tries to do that with but it’s not going to happen. These cars are so technical today that they are very hard to fix. Vehicles that are damaged as badly as the majority of those cars aren’t going to be repaired.”
“Most of the water damaged vehicles we buy are what we call ‘low water cars’,” added Fierge. “That’s usually what we buy, repair, sell and guarantee.”
